Ryuichi Sakamoto feat. Sister M: “The Other Side Of Love”. This was a relatively popular song at the time of it’s release. Nowhere near “Energy Flow”, of course, but big:

Then, years later, m-flo and EMYLI dropped “The Other Side Of Love”.

A clear improvement, I think. The release of this song was interesting as m-flo actually worked with Sakamoto on “I Wanna Be Down”. Of course that’s one of my favorite m-flo collabos, as anyone who atended a gig I DJ’ed at the time knows. It was a regular part of my set. Have a listen:

I’ve never met Taku, but I’ve always wanted to ask him what it was like working with Sakamoto. This session always seemed like when Stevie Wonder was doing guest appearances on people’s records a few years ago. How do you deliver the track to your label with one of your heroes on it?
