It’s very difficult to change the world when its inhabitants think it’s there to entertain them.
I have seen a lot since the Earthquake hit Haiti. Mostly though? I’ve seen a lot of people talking. Raising money for relief efforts and coordinating folks on the ground is a taxing thing, but it’s the work we’re supposed to do. The criticism of Wyclef, while there are bodies yet to be discovered (and buried) is inappropriate and I’m sick of the armchair quarterbacking.
We’re human beings and we’re supposed to help each other without blinking. The fact that we hesitate — no, not hesitate, but justify our way out of our humanity — whether it’s to pass health care legislature or to throw a drowning person a branch, is what’s bringing us down as a species.
