Don’t tell anyone in the office, but I really like this record. I could go into a really technical review of it, but what’s really important is the feeling. This is a great bluesy record that shows a maturing of Norah Jones. We’ve seen her break out recently and do stuff like the “Wah Do Dem” movie and the track with Q-Tip, but on this record she illustrates that she’s a focused musician. I REALLY like where her head is right now. She sounds good, and apparently has an impressive command of her artistic direction. “Chasing Pirates” may be treated as a single, with a great video, but the musicianship is there, and it’s solid!
