Gotta keep gettin’ that paper.
I love technology. But I hate following fads. It took me 4 years to get an iPod. In that time, I used an MD player for my music. It took 3 generations of the software for me to give into the iPhone. I just don’t like getting the new thing just because it’s new. It’s gotta be right. And, it’s got to be something I actually need. So when the Amazon Kindle was announced, I kept a close eye on it. And I have held and tried it.
I appreciate that there’s a market for it. I like that you can get blogs and books on it. But I have to say, I don’t like it. I know, I know, as a Star Trek person, I should totally own this early version of the PADD.

But I think I already DO.
I subscribe to maybe 50 different RSS feeds, which I read somewhat regularly. But I need books. Magazines. Paper. I love the books in my library, and the slow process of flipping through pages. I could just type in a book title online to reference a chapter, but I LIKE reaching for a shelf and bringing down a book. So, I don’t think the Kindle is for me. Touch screen desktops are for me, and when there’s a serious touch screen iMac, I’ll probably be first in line, but today…I’m not down for a portable book machine.
